Is the Red Cross a good charity? 🏥

Question

So I've been seeing a lot of information spread online lately about the Red Cross and a few other well known charities. 
I'm always so skeptical of things that go viral on the internet. Yet, I'm also drawn to conspiracies!
I figured I'd reach out to y'all in CC to share your input on what you think. 
I always thought the Red Cross was good, until I heard about what happened in Haiti back in 2010. Seeing the numbers of how much they actually gave back from their received contributions was sickening and disheartening. 
What are your thoughts?

During Harvey efforts, I've been proud to see an alternative charity that I know is going straight back to Houston. 
All hail, JJ Watt!!! 🙌🏻
I think he's at $31 million raised as of today. 😊
Personally, I've seen him make sure every dollar is given back and not lining the pocket of some douchebag. 
Yet HEB, our Texas grocery store, actually mobilized better than the Red Cross in Houston. 😂

When celebrities, such as the kardashians, tell you to donate to a cause, DONT DO IT.

Donate to Samartitans purse before Red Cross. so much of their funds go to administrative and paying their employees. If you want to help hurricane victims the best bets are local food shelves or Samaritans purse

I was listening to Pod Save America the other day and they were saying that while a disproportionate amount of Red Cross funding goes to their overhead, very few organizations can mobilize to help as quickly as they can. In the long term there might be better charities but the Red Cross is trained to deal with front line emergency response on this scale better than almost everyone else. So I think you kind of have to accept the good with the bad with huge charities like this that do help a lot but are also shady as fuck.

The Red Cross only built 4 or 6 houses for Haiti, & there was still so much money left over that didn't go towards Haiti. Same thing with Katrina, & 9/11. They're a non profit organization but out of every $10 the they see maybe $3, while the RC keeps the rest.

We recommend them in work all the time mainly for wheelchair and equipment hire. I believe they also help with shopping and small trips for a donation. Locally anyway
