My SO didn't make it clear until after we had our son that he didn't want him using a dummy, even though he knew I'd bought some and received a few at my shower 😑 I just assumed he was okay with it since he never said anything.. Well now we have a 4 week old who downs 4-5 ounces of breast milk every 2-3 hours and is putting on tons of weight but is still convinced he's hungry after each feed, even if he's had too much and has spit up or vomited. As soon as something grabs his attention his rooting reflex starts up and he starts grizzling- then screaming if he has nothing to suck 😣 getting him to sleep can be a nightmare because he doesn't want to settle unless he literally passes out during a feed. We try everything, rocking, talking, checking that he's not too warm or cold, tummy time etc... and I just can't keep feeding him whenever he wants to because my boobs would be empty. No joke. And anytime I talk to my partner about trying a dummy or substituting with formula (because I can't keep up with his overeating) he says no. And obviously its important to him so I haven't... until today 😣😣 he's gone back to work and I'm not dealing with the baby crying all the time. He's just eaten a huge amount and my boobs are empty, I'm behind on housework and have things to do and I can't when he's screaming non stop. So I gave him a dummy and he settled straight away 😑😑 I don't know whether to tell my SO or just do it while he's at work. I know he'll overreact if I tell him, but I'll go crazy if I dont give the baby a dummy again... Advice please!
