Does this sound stupid?

I just started school at a university. I don't feel happy though I mean like the area and the school is great but I'm not happy. Most of this stems from the fact that my boyfriend and I don't get to see each other very often. I could just as easily get the same degree I'm going for at a community college for half the time. Would it be dumb if I transferred to one so I could finish faster and be with my boyfriend?

Do what will ultimately make you happy in the long run. Just remember education is forever...everyone else (unfortunately) comes and go..

There's nothin wrong with getting your undergrad at a community college. In fact, once you're done, nobody cares where you did your undergrad. Obviously you'd want to go to a good school for you bachelors and masters and whatnot if that's what you're going for. But for your associates degree, community college has so many benefits. Especially financially. You'll save a lot of time and money. It's ultimately your decision and what's going to be best for you. There are some cases where you kind of need to go to a University to get that degree, but it depends on the field you're in. Gen-eds are going to pretty much be the same any school you go to. I see a lot of people on here saying "DONT DO IT" But I can tell you, financially community college is gonna do you much better. Not to mention you'll have more time on your hands. I'd look into it for sure!! Good luck girlie!

Would it be dumb? Probably.
I get where you're coming from though. You need to put yourself first. This is your career. Don't do something that in 10 years you'll think back and say "I shouldn't have done that". Keep in mind that not all relationships last.
And how would your bf feel about you leaving a uni for him?
The way I see it is if he's okay with it/encourages you to transfer, he's selfish.

I wouldn't do it. I was in this exact same position a few years ago and I DID transfer to a small community college close to home for my boyfriend and we aren't even together anymore. You'll miss out on a lot of experiences if you transfer and you guys can visit every weekend if you want. Sometimes even during the week too depending on how far away you are.
