Question?

I have read several posts on here from WOC stating that names like "swirl", "chocolate" or "cream in my coffee" adjectives to describe babies or SOs as being annoying, offensive or racist however I've also read several posts from WOC using those same adjectives applied to their own children, themselves or SOs. I would genuinely like to know what the issue is with these adjectives? Is the feeling these adjectives create purely personal or is there an overall issue with them?

i think the main issues with it are objectification/dehumanising the child. they are being seen as more "special" due to being mixed race (actually, special solely because of their mixed race). emphasising that the baby is mixed race like it actually matters (the whole concept of race has been debunked by science long ago but still has its legacies none of which are good). with an SO the main thing is fetishization or otherwise a fixation on their race. personally i also hate seeing posts like "im italian/danish/mexican/british and hes dominican/african/jamaican/french" like you dont need to list every "race" in your entire lineage back to adam and eve. anyway getting off topic a bit here i hope that helps?

I see no issue other than people being too sensitive or not being able to mind their own business.I joke about having caramel babies with my boyfriend one day. I'm not fetishing the fact we will have mixed children (he is Dominican) but celebrating it. And I don't see how it's any different from how he jokes about me being a ghost, pale, etc. just because I find my boyfriend attractive does not mean I am "fetishizing" him. And I think we will have gorgeous mixed children.Imo it's your kid and you can call it whatever you want to and I won't judge. Mixed babies are usually the prettiest anyway 🤷‍♀️
