One-upper friend

I have a friend who has to one up me on everything. I tell her the good that's going on in my life, hers is better. I tell her the bad, hers is worst. She makes everything about her. How can I make her aware that it bothers me? I have been keeping my distance but we have a trip planned together next weekend and I'm not sure I can keep my cool.
