How swollen is a new tattoo suppose to be??

I got this tattoo yesterday evening and it is extremely swollen. My leg is another size. Is this normal?? It's a lot of detail and shading.

I'm a tattoo artist myself, and I don't think I can say I've  seen something like this before. you may be allergic to the ink. or they didn't have sterile needles. See doc!!

I’ve have 10 tattoos. All of them swelled a bit. I have very fair and sensitive skin. I wasn’t concerned with any but one. I have a big mandala on my hand and wrist goes all the way up to my elbow crease. It swelled a lot on my wrist, so much we stopped the tatt session. Took some ibuprofen and kept it covered . Was better in a few days. It did fade but was perfect after 2nd session w weeks later . Just be kind to it and keep it clean and use good ointment. I recommend tat wax

I have three tattoos and my husband has three as well, neither of us has ever swelled like that. I would probably at least call the doc to see what they say. Maybe call the studio too to see what they say. Good luck! It looks hella nice otherwise!

Does it burn or hurt? It's possible it could be infected

i've sat for 8+hours for my shin tattoo and 4 for my right shoulder and i've NEVER seen that or experienced that. doesn't seem
normal to me . of course mine was red and bled a little but never swollen

I have tons of tats and not once have seen or had this. go to a dr asap! Could be something with the ink

I suggest going to the doctor! I only have one tattoo but my family has many and I've never seen any get that swollen

I have many and I've never swelled and it didn't even really hurt the next day. You should probably get checked out. Or try a Benadryl. You may be having an allergic reaction to something.
