Would it be weird if I made a registry for my son's first birthday? Or should I just list the items on the invitations? 🤔

We're doing a 'no gifts please' party, not a popular decision and people and flat out arguing with me on what she wants. We are trying to practice minimalism and are also on a very structured budget. So my one best friend out of state bought her smash cake. The other bought her bday onesie. And my in state friend is a photographer. They loved the idea of all helping our with the party even though two of them couldn't be there. 
as a gift giver I would love a list because I hate buying things that aren't useful to someone, something about it seems off. I would make a small list on my phone and offer it to people who ask. People who know what he likes might have fun coming up with a creative gift to give

i didnt make a regitry, but i did do an amazon wish list for HER ONLY. people have bought stuff off it. her oct is around the corner.

I was liking the list idea but we recently moved and have no room for anything new (except diapers and wipes of course). I was at a 1st birthday party and watched as the parents loaded multiple of the same gift and also items that were not age appropriate. I did not envy all the time it is going to take to return the very thoughtful gifts. The list as least gives people an idea. I'm using an evite and you can add the link to a list.

We've asked immediate family to come with us on a trip to the Zoo instead. We don't need anything for him and he loves animals. If other people buy him stuff I'd just be grateful that they've put thought into a gift- whatever it is.

We asked for people to bring something to add to a timecapsule that she will open on her 18th bday instead. However some people are really set on getting her a gift too... if they ask what she needs I sent an amazon wishlist with some things we can use like socks, shoes, outfits, toys, etc

I've been adding stuff to her old baby registry all year! If anyone asks for suggestions I'm sending them to that old registry haha!
