My old friend (Rj, let's call her) is having a baby shower thrown by her mom. This girl and I haven't talked her whole pregnancy and we pretty much just fell off which is fine life happens. However today she messaged me asking for my number so I gave it and she goes "don't be surprised if my mom calls you from an unknown number!"

At this point I'm like why would she be calling me? And she goes "it's for my shower!" Uh. Okay. I feel like its pretty rude and gift-grabby to only talk to me because you have a baby shower coming up! I wouldn't mind if we actually were even somewhat close. But we aren't. Like the last thing that was said between us even slightly was four months ago.

She abandoned all her friends for her now husband and so I feel like it's pretty rude just to talk to me for that. It wasn't to catch up or even become anywhere near close again, am I the only one who thinks that's in poor taste?

Update: She continued to message me after I stopped replying because quite honestly I was tired of it. She never asked how I was, how my pregnancy was going or anything she just talked about her shower. After I stopped she continued and was only about the baby shower. Even if she said hi first and made conversation it would have made it sound a little less rude then how she approached it.
