How many hats and mittens should a baby have?

How many for at least the first 6 months? 
-The mittens that keep them from scratching their faces

I feel like the mittens are pointless. They scratch themselves all the time on the inside. if you keep their claws cut it isn't really an issue.

For my son I had 7 hats, one for each day of the week. I didn’t buy mittens, I just put socks on his hands 😃

My daughter was born in February so we used hats until the end of march... she has a bigger head so the newborn hats that we had a ton of didn't fit. I kept her nails trimmed so we didn't use mittens but a few times. I'd say wait until your little one is born to see how big their head is then get a package of the ones that fit. I'm sure you could get away with a package of 3 mittens

my son didn't wear A lot of hat's really just when we went out and it was really cold then he outgrew them in a hurry so we had a ton we never used and didn't use mittens either bc when little it's easy to keep their nails cut..at least that's what we did
