Can someone tell me what this means?

My gyno told me I have stage 1 of a pre-cancerous condition. I think stage 5 or something is cancer. He said they can remove it in a simple surgery but I had a lot to do so I asked him if it can wait...3 weeks of bleeding sounds like loads of fun but I have a lot of dress and skirt events coming up. Plus, I dont mean to be "that guy" but didn't they used to just knock you out for these procedures? When did that change?

Anyway, I have had cervical cancer before which was removed. He assured me this is NOT cancer, just a pre-cancerous bundle of cells and he wouldn't answer any other questions like?

Will it become cancer? He doesn't know. 
Can it go away on its own? He doesn't know.

Then he says.  I did my due diligence and informed you, let me know what you decide...

Has anyone had this? What did you decide? Is this some Indiana Jones holy grail question where if I make the wrong choice the cancer is back? Cuz that operation sucks I think more than a 5 minute procedure.

But I also can't shake this feeling that they're constantly cutting chunks out of my womanhood and soon there will be nothing left...dumb I know.

I'm hoping you guys will be more helpful than the gyno because I have no idea what to do after talking to him.

So the thing is with cancer is that it's very very hard to predict what it's going to do. It's a mutation and to be able to give a definitive yes or no it will be cancer, you actually have to wait to see if it develops into cancer. Doctors can't give answers like that and if they do, they don't want to be held liable for saying you'd develop cancer when they didn't or vice versa. It's a recipe to get sued. 
So the best thing to do is get it removed before it can. They'll be removing as little healthy tissue as possible, so you don't need to worry about them cutting chunks out of your lady bits. 
As far as general anesthesia, they avoid that as much as possible now. Usually it's only for major surgery or internal. A local anesthetic is more than enough for them to scrape abnormal cells of your cervix.

Your circumstances sound different as you've had cervical cancer. You're already a trooper bc you've been through worse than what you're going through now. I had CIN 2, pre cancer level two, when I was in college and it terrified me. The procedure scared the crap out of me. My mom came and held my hand. They gave me only a local anaesthetic and burned the tissue off (maybe that procedure has changed? This was 2009.) the scariest part was the sounds and smell of burning. It hurt a bit but definitely bled for only a day or two, for me. What was awkward was avoiding sex for the 6 weeks they recommend you heal, but personally I didn't want sex anyways because i really wanted to heal very well- it's so important. I'm now in my late 20s and trying to have kids...I never know if my trouble is more from my endometriosis, or from this procedure. Either way, life or death so it was worth it! My doc said it wasn't a matter of if it would become cancer, but only when. Don't delay, in my opinion!

why would you not do the procedure. if i were you i would and get it done to protect your health who cares if you bleed for 3 week$ i would rather bleed then get cancer.

Did he mention what procedure exactly he recommends for your case?
I had a procedure to remove pre-cancerous cells from my cervix with laser. I think it is call an ablation and I don't know if it is considered a surgery. It seems that this is a much milder procedure than a cervical biopsy, for example. The doctor only applied a local anesthetic. I felt intense menstrual-like cramps for a few seconds but nothing else. I was a bit shaken after the procedure, but I think was more due to the psychological aspect involving the word cancer. I bled for a few days but it was less than my period (which is pretty heavy). I decide to do it ASAP and was happy with my decision. My life went on normally already in the following day. That was my personal experience, I guess it could be harder for others.
