Not TTC related but I just need advice.

My husbands co-worker he works with let us believe he had houses to rent and we were in need of a house quick so my husband talk to him and he said yeah he can rent to us so my hubby gave him the deposit and it's been a month since.. we already found a new house but we want our money back obviously and he's not giving it back. All we have is a deposit recipe from him. What can I do to get the money back? Pls help! Comment..!!
