After how long does birth control take effect?

Hi all! So I recently started taking birth control, and this is my first time ever taking it. The pharmacist told me that for the first 7 days of taking the pills I would need to use another form of contraception and that after that I should be okay if I don't use another form. My issue is that I have also heard from people that it takes a month. Does it depend on the pill brand or something? I'm confused!

If your doctor said 7 days, it's 7 days. I saw a woman on here telling a girl to wait 2 months. Don't let other people scare you about your sex life; listen to your doctor

So generally it is a week to two weeks to establish a steady level in your bloodstream. however doctor's always say 1 month because normally we don't take the pill accurately (same time every day without fail) when we first start taking it. 1 month let's you get used to it and really establish a good level.

My doctor said it takes a month for it to be in your system. I trust my doctor and it's not like it's a big deal it's only 30 days.
