does baby have to drink cow milk??

my husband and I don't drink milk. and I keep reading articles about how human shouldn't even drink cow milk. so do we have to transition baby from breast milk to a cow milk bottle? any thoughts or info for a nutritionist would be very welcomed!

my son is 18 months old and just weaned.  he hates cow's milk.  the pediatrician says he needs 2 cups of dairy a day whether that is in the form of cheese, yogurt, pudding etc.  doesn't have to be milk per se, but she said he needs the calcium content.

My daughter is allergic to something in milk. It’s not the lactose. It seems to be the hormones maybe! We used almond milk. It actually has more calcium than regular milk. She also loves yogurt (and it doesn’t cause the allergic reaction) so she gets lots of the calcium she needs without ever having cows milk.

I'd say try soymilk! I drink it as I'm lactose and when I was a kid I refused to drink milk, it grossed me out. I would only use it for cooking or baking but I switched to soy entirely. Like PP said, make sure baby gets calcium else where do some research but you don't necessarily have to give him cows milk

Humans aren't made to have cows milk even if a dr says. It really doesn't benefit us. Breastmilk has so many benefits for babies so don't stop. You keep going strong! Baby is gaining and healthy then I don't see a problem.

Some almond, coconut, and banana milks have more calcium than cows milk. They have more nutrients than cows milk and it won't upset your babies tummy. Scientifically dairy has not been proven to show significant bone growth or any health benefit that you can't get from a non-dairy alternative. Don't force your baby cows milk.

I plan on breastfeeding until 2 so the only other thing my daughter will drink is water but she will have some dairy in yogurt and cheese. Both her father and I don't drink milk but sometimes cook and eat other forms of dairy.. I do have milk in my coffee too. But by letting her breastfeed as long as she wants I don't really have to worry about her lacking nutrients.

I have an intolerance to soy, so I have been researching almond milk and other milk Replacements that people who are lactose intolerant would use. I know a lot of Pediatricians give Antiquated advice just because they don't know, they don't stay up to times and so I kind of wanted to know what pediatricians outside of my general area are saying! I was thinking very seriously about contacting a nutritionist but I wanted to have ideas to go forward with. I don't want to give the baby store-bought juices because of the sugar content and I've always heard that you shouldn't give a baby water... But I don't know if that's just an old wives tale. I guess some people could call me crunchy or granola, but this isn't just me being slightly hippie. this is me thinking generally about the fact that there's no need for my baby to drink something that isn't needed by humans.
