Small space / products that do double duty

Hey there, my husband and I live in a very small house. I was just starting to play around with a registry and was wondering how many items could do double duty. For instance, could I use a Bumbo on a kitchen chair in place of a high chair? Or... do I need a crib or can I manage with just a pack 'n' play? (Though I was worried about our 40-something backs, always bending down to pick the baby up from a play yard, tbh)

Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated. I want to keep clutter to a minimum but I also don't want our baby to be without the basics.
