Should a celebrities personal views impact their sales?

Question

For clarification: should people consume music simply because they like it regardless of the personal life and/or personal opinions of the artist. 
EX: If a artist produces really quality music but they’ve been convicted of domestic violence should people not buy that music due to the personal life of the artist? 
** I’m not asking if you personally allow the personal life of an artist impact your consumption, I’m asking if it SHOULD affect their sales/money **

Why wouldn't it? When any brand has a unpopular view on something it effects sales. That's how business works. If a celebrity supports something I am against, why would I spend my hard earned money to support them? I'd be indirectly supporting something I'm against. That's why you don't wear your company's logo when you go to support a white supremacist rally, or when you're holding a 'God hates fags' sign.

I believe it should impact sales. But truly it's a personal opinion based on the consumer making the purchase of the product being sold. For example, I refuse to purchase any Jeffree Star products or anything he is affiliated with based off his behavior towards the public and fellow MUA. This is a moral decision on my (the consumer) part. I think the general public doesn't act in this manner as they choose to just use a product, but it should most definitely affect sales. Chris Brown physically assaulting Rihanna and then tattooing her bloody beaten face on his neck should make consumers outrages and not purchase or support his products and music.

This is a good one. I think it depends on the situation. Like Britney Spears had a little meltdown for awhile there, I still rock out to her music when I'm cleaning the house. Yet, then there's the new Jeepers Creepers movie and I can't bring myself to watch that. I guess, it comes down to where do you draw the line?

Yes. I make sure my money goes on brands/products who’s companies I support. If I don’t buy Hershey’s because they exploit child labor, then I also won’t listen to a known rapist/someone with domestic violence issues.
They are a brand, how they present themselves is their advertisement. It does, and should, affect their income, no matter how good their “product” is.

Yes it should because people have a right to boycott if they do not like the person. I typically don't because I buy products & entertainment that I enjoy rather than pay attention to the politics or the personal lives of the seller. One thing I cannot jump on board with is like another commenter said is giving my money towards the new Jeepers Creepers movie. If you don't know what I'm talking about you should definitely research it.

I said no, but I meant yes. An artist or celeberty is in the public eye and create an image for themselves. Of course their art or product has a lot to do with it, but their image does too. If they act in a way I find demoralizing or unethical I won't buy from them and I think alot of people have the same thought process, because at the end of the day why are you (finacially) supporting someone you don't  (mentally or emotionally) support.
