Should a mother/ father be required to pay Child Support?

A friend of mine received a letter from Family Divisions saying that the defendant was unable to be located for two years and her case was being closed. He got off the hook with a case prior to it being $8500, and the recent one was $4381. What are your thoughts on someone getting out of child support?

If they sign away the rights then no. But if they can't find the person can't really force payment.

I think child support should only be enforced on the parents that arent active in their child's life. If you're active in their life and have shared custody there's no reason why you should still help the other parent. I mean if you bust your ass off to support your family and child why can't the other person do the same ya know?

I don't think signing away your rights should mean that the child misses out on support. If you are proven to biologically parent a child you should have to pay for it unless it is adopted. If you have an accident and the mother chooses to keep the child you pay. If you have a child and the mother bails but the dad raises the child, she should pay.

I think so. I would much rather my ex sign over his rights, but after him going for full custody after not seeing my son for two year and never supporting us in the first place, fuck yes. He wants to act like he's entitled to my kid, well he's entitled to pay also. Ass hole.

My ex dodged child support his whole life by simply not accepting the letters.   they claimed they couldn't make him pay if he wasn't informed about the child.  the child we had together that he signed the birth certificate for? the one with his last name?  the one that was at our wedding?.... yeah guess he had no way of knowing 😑😶😏

You can NOT voluntarily sign over your rights. Someone else has to legally adopt the child.
