Hey guys! So I recently got engaged maybe a month ago, and I’ve been really stressing out because when we went to tell his parents about the engagement, his mom was pissed and was not supportive about it at all. So we left and we decided to give her time.

It’s been about a month now, and We went to stay at their house for about a week, and the whole time she avoided us pretty much, and didn’t hardly talk to us. She kept giving us very short answers like “okay” “yeah” etc. I asked her who all she and her husband wanted to invite and she just told me “I don’t know”. Before we got engaged she was the most nicest lady, and I went on road trips with just her all the time and we would text. Now it’s like she just met me all over again.

So, this week me and my fiancé have been talking about having a Halloween engagement party, and he told me we needed to talk to his parents about it too. I’m stressing out right now because they act like they don’t want anything to do with us or the wedding so I’m not sure how to talk to them or what to ask or anything. We’re going to have the party at my parents house in their shop and just invite family and friends. I just don’t want her to be like “no we don’t want to do that” or anything like that. I don’t know what to do or how to handle this. I hope you guys have some answers for me, my fiancé just keeps telling me to give her time. His dad was all for this and really supportive except her. She’s literally the mother in law I feared to have.
