Elective C Sections
So I saw a friend today wth her baby that she elected to have via c section at 38 weeks. Both of her previous children's birth weight was 8 pounds. Her third was 6 pounds!!!!! I now completely understand the reason to wait until 40 weeks! Even though she's healthy you could barely hear her cry and she was the size of a mini baby doll!!!!!! She was adorable but I will not let my doctor schedule me before 40 weeks when I elect to have my c section!
UPDATE: I am in NO way shaming this mother! She had complications in her first pregnancy which resulted in health issues for her baby. So of course her next two babies would be born via c section! Also they didn't want her to go into labor naturally and she started dilating at 38 weeks... it's just all throughout my pregnancy my doctor kept telling me she wouldn't induce before 40 weeks if there was no issue. I never dilated and ended up in labor for 3 days before having an emergency c section. So for my next baby I'm scheduling a c section because most of the women in my family couldn't have their babies naturally and now I cannot either so for me I'm probably going to just schedule 3 or 4 days after my due date since I can elect. Honestly I'm all for baking the baby for 40 weeks even though I'll be chomping at the bits! I had a big baby (9 lbs 11oz) so really I was just sooooo shocked at seeing this precious little baby. I've never seen a baby that tiny.!!!! Her little girl has no complications and I am so happy for her! I wasn't shaming I was just basically shocked and really understood what my doctor meant with the waiting for 40 weeks. Because I have a picture of a 4D ultrasound and when my baby was born there was a big weight difference! But all of you are correct and it's all about baby and mama! Size doesn't = health! And that's not what I meant. I was just chit chatting because if I mentioned that to my partner he would think I'm hinting for another baby AND IM NOT 😳 haha.....
