Side Pain - HELP!

I'm 8 weeks 1 day pregnant today and I've had cramping for a couple weeks now and I talked to my doctor on the phone about it and she said that was fine. Well this morning I woke up with sharp left side pain. Its literally right on my side right underneath my rib cage. It comes and goes all morning. Is this normal or a bad sign?! I have my first OBGYN appointment this afternoon, but it's not until 3:00pm. Thanks for any advice/help!
