My baby boy has Hydronephrosis

Hannah

This is quite common in pregnancy more that I thought and 4 out 5 cases rectify themselves during pregnancy. They don't know why it happens but for some reason is also more common in boys!

So long story very short I am in the UK so had my normal 12wk scan and 20wk scan and everything was prefect!

When I was 24wks pregnant my boy was very lazy and had 2days of no or reduced movement, so I was sent for another scan when I was 25+4. This is when I was told the left kidney was healthy and was approx 2.3mm but the right kidney was full and measuring approx 23mm, so 10 times bigger!

They said they didn't feel it needed attention immediately but potentially a drain would be put into his kidney whilst I was still pregnant and when he is born he may need another operation.

3wks later I went for another scan the right kidney had dropped down to 16mm!! Then 3wks later another scan and it had gone back up to 19mm. So they advised they would see me again in 4wks and potentially set and induction date.

I went back today now 35+4 and his kidney is now 12mm!!!! I am sooo happy to say he has more cooking time and I am not being induced! They are scanning me again at 38+3 so we will see from there! This was him today!
