I'm 36+2 days today and was told I'm at 1 centimeter and my cervix is soft . What does having a soft cervix mean????? Is having a cervix that is soft a good thing?

That's what I heard today when I was checked too! This thread has been super helpful because I was super confused as to what she meant. I'm 35 weeks and 5 days and my cervix is soft but I'm 3cm dilated. Although she did say it was really tight down there and she wasn't worried about me going into labor anytime soon.

Soft is good. You want to efface (thin out) before dilating because it progresses labor

means its almost go time! they say a cervix feels like your nose when closed and like lips when soft.... the softer it is the more it'll dilate and the closer you are to giving birth

yep! Your cervix softens as it prepares for birth. some doctors refer to it as yours did, others may give you a percentage of effacement
