Referral to GI doc?

Elizabeth

Hi all!

I have a 4 yo daughter. She's been potty trained for about a year. Ever since then she's had issues with bowel movements. In June of this year it was the worst, she hadnt pooped in almost a week and she had severe stomach cramps and vomiting. We ended up in ER. X rays showed she was literally full of it. We gave fleet saline enema and she got zofran and we went home. Things improved over the next couple of months, I made changes to her diet and she became mostly regular. Lately we've slipped back into constipation. She's been drinking special k drinks bc they have good fiber in them as well as I add flaxseed meal to her foods when I can. She's picky, id you have a 4 yo I'm sure you know what I mean. Diet preferences are: Mac n cheese, waffles, a chicken nugget happy meal. Not much else. She's had a few bouts with tummy aches in the last few weeks. She went almost 5 days with no BM and i gave saline pedialax enema, with worked. Then she didn't poop again for another 5 days. I gave her some pedialax fruit chew laxative on Thursday evening. She had BM that night, Friday night and some this am. She woke up from a nap with stomach cramps and vomiting. Do you think I ought to ask for referral to GI doc? I have clued her PED In to her issues and he doesn't seem concerned at this time, but I can't help but think I should be doing more. Thanks!
