My hospital bag recommendations

Ma

I've seen tons of questions about what to pack for a hospital bag, so now I'd like to share what I actually used and loved. Keep in mind, I had an emergency c-section and I had some health complications that we weren't expecting, so I stayed in the hospital for 4 days and 5 nights.

* makeup remover/facial cleansing wipes (I had a travel pack of the "Simple" brand from Target)

* favorite necessary makeup (I only used foundation, eye liner, mascara, and a small amount of lipstick to help myself feel human)

* eye cream

* Marula facial oil (the Drunk Elephant brand $72 at Sephora) This stuff is amazing and I used it on my skin every morning and night while I was in the hospital for moisturization and to make my skin glow.

* your favorite facial cleanser

* warm socks with grips on the bottom so you don't slip

* flip flops for the shower and for walking around in the hospital

* a soft dark colored robe

* going home outfit (I wore a long, loose maxi dress with a sweater over it and a bra that was one size bigger than my regular size. During my entire hospital stay, however, I just wore a hospital gown because I didn't have to worry about getting blood on my own clothes and it was so much easier to get on and off than normal clothes)

* slip-on shoes for going home

* 2 outfits for baby (1 for pics during your hospital stay and the other for coming home. You really don't need more than that because your baby will most likely stay naked wrapped in a hospital swaddle (our hospital provided a Halo sleepsack) or blanket so they can check your baby's vitals easily and so you can change his/her diaper easily.

* snacks (we had almonds, trail mix, apples, bananas, and cheezits)

* folder/organizer for paperwork (I brought my birth Plan, hospital registration forms, and insurance info)

* notepad & pen
