Can my baby have two sets of legal guardians?

Or “godparents.”
My husband and I have two sets of people in our life who we would trust with our baby girl if something happened to us.
Are we supposed to narrow it down or can she have both just in case? I’m just not sure how it works. Especially legally.
Also, how did you bring this up to those people in your life?

You need to speak with an attorney. I have a primary guardian (my so & kids step dad) and a secondary set of guardians (my sister and her husband). Not sure if custody could be shared...

So you trust 4 people other than yourselves? That's nice. I don't think there any legal way to do so in that case. If they were to end up orphan then they would prob go with anyone who will be willing to take them (family) and that's one legal way for them to get the custody, or be sent to a foster home. Maybe write it in your will as well so they know who your kids should go to in that case and not left for everyone to pick. Make sure the other people know about this, you don't want to push them into something they don't want if it happened. 
No need to be paranoid, just write it in your will you would prefer for W and X, or Y and Z to get custody of your baby if he/she was to end up as an orphan. The rest will be taken care of.
