Is it normal to just randomly get a heavy flow when you usually light??

I’ve had my period before, but it’s never been so heavy, the whole pad was soaked and I didn’t tell my mom. Should I be concerned??

When it comes to periods, practically everything is normal... especially if you're still young, because your body is still going through puberty, so changes can occur from month to month. Soaking through a pad is the thing nightmares are made of, but it happens to all of us sometimes. You may have months where your period is heavy and others where it's light, you may have blood clots in it, you may have months where it lasts 3 days and others where it's 7, and every combo in between. As you get older it will probably get more regular and find a "normal" for you, but even that can change over time. If it lasts longer than a week or is super heavy for several days, tell your mom, just so you can make sure everything is ok... but one or two heavy days isn't a big worry
