I had my first OB appointment yesterday at 9 weeks. It went well. They gave me orders for my first ultrasound. I scheduled it for the same day, in the evening. The ultrasound tech wouldn’t show us the screen. She didn’t talk to us. At the end, she said the doctor would talk with us. We knew it wasn’t good, this wasn’t what was supposed to happen. The doctor told us the baby was only 7 weeks gestation and had no heart beat. She wanted us to come in first thing in the morning. When we arrived, she told us the baby likely wasn’t viable and that I may experience it expelling itself from my body. We went home. We cried. We prayed. We cried some more.

My body expelled the baby tonight. It was the most painful thing I have ever experienced, both physically and psychologically. Yesterday morning I was 9 weeks into my pregnancy and had a successful first appointment. Yesterday evening I was told my baby stopped growing and likely wasn’t viable....everything changed in less than 12 hours.
