Time to move on to IVF?

Question

After how many failed IUIs would/did you start thinking about moving onto IVF? It's been 2 IUIs for me and I am so tired of this waiting game. My diagnosis is unexplained, I'm 30 and never been pregnant. Trying to figure out if a 3rd IUI is worth it or if I should just skip it and go straight to IVF. Thoughts?

I'm there with you! Just did my 3rd IUI and questioned if it was worth it given the first 2 didn't work. But IVF is so expensive I don't think we can afford it😕. I'm really hoping this time around works, I had 3 follicles 25 mm each, did clomid days 3-7 had a trigger shot the day before IUI everything was looking good! Maybe 3rd time is a charm? This is the first time I've had a good chance as far as I'm concerned with my numbers and everything. I'm 31, been ttc for 4 years and had miscarriage at 7 weeks 2 years ago. I say try one more IUI, you never know what could happen! Unexplained infertility is awful. Can't we come up with an "explanation" in 2017? Best of luck to you!

Just received results from my 2nd IUI which came back negative. Both were medicated, 1st with clomid, promethium and injection then the 2nd was with lethozone, estradiol, promethium, and injection. Heavily debating which direction to go whether another IUI, begin IVF, or just stop all together. Been trying since June 2015. This process has become so depressing and humbling that it has clotted my mind and at times questioned my faith. Unfortunately I am faced with the same crossroad 😥.

I had two failed IUIs and now I'm switching from Clomid to Tamoxifen. Giving oral meds another shot! For me, I like to go least invasive. If this doesn't work for two cycles, I'm moving on to injectables in January! It's all so frustrating. IVF is so expensive I don't know if I can stomach it 😩 but then you'd hate to spend all this money on wasted IUIs! It's a catch 22 😭

I’m unexplained had 6 IUIs as required by insurance - 4 natural and 2 medicated. We were advanced to IVF at that point and got pregnant on the first try. If I could make the choice myself I would’ve done IVF after 3-4 rounds because at that point it’s statistically unlikely it’ll work - although for some it will. I just emotionally was beat from the failures.

My specialist told me they get a 75% success rate within 3 IUIs. Keep going
