Microwaves????

Question

My mother is PARANOID about the damn microwave harming the baby and I'm curious if any of y'all are too? Or have heard why you can't use the microwave. Any and all answers are welcome :)

I am a physicist. And here is the deal with microwaves. 
1) they cannot escape the microwave itself. Its a faraday cage. 
2) they travel with the speed of light. So for them to “escape” when you open the microwave. You have to open it faster than the speed of light. If you can do this, the world of physics wants to hear from you, cause that means we can do time travel!
All your babies are safe! No worries!

Omg my dad was the same way! We didn't have microwaves, ac's or fans growing up! Lol

As in like the microwaves themselves escaping? That won't happen unless the microwave is damaged in someway. 
I would be more worried about just not heating up bottles in microwaves because the liquid can get hotspots which could be too hot for baby.
