Hcg levels?

I see so many women posting about their hgc levels. Is it normal to go get these checked when you find out you're pregnant? We are 5 weeks with our rainbow baby. Should I schedule to have levels checked too??

My doctor won't check mine. I called and said I was pregnant but just had surgery so I was worried. She still wouldn't see me for a month after that (I see her for the first time Monday).

I'm in Australia and it's standard practice here that you get the blood test to confirm pregnancy.  They won't do follow ups unless there's a reason to.

I had a loss at 10 weeks baby stopped growing at 6 weeks in sept 2016 and then I had a loss at 4 weeks in June 2017. so when I messaged my Dr after I got a positive test last week he requested I do lab work to confirm and make sure my levels are doubling like they should this time. this is my 7th pregnancy  (have 3 live kids) and this only second time to do blood work and first time was June to determine if that pregnancy was viable after some spotting. this time no spotting just being causous. got first results back 14dpo 401 still waiting on my second results taken at 17dpo

It's not really standard procedure. If things seem to be proceeding normally there's no reason to have levels checked.

My OB had me only check them twice after our first ultrasound because I had a miscarriage before. After that, they just relied on the ultrasounds. But it’s something you could always talk to your doctor about, every OB does things differently depending on the patient. But if they don’t see a need for it, and everything is looking good. I wouldn’t worry about it! Don’t worry until you have to! Good luck and I hope everything goes well with your little one💕

It’s not normal. My ob won’t do it. It causes unnecessary stress. 
My RE however, won’t schedule my apt until I do a 48 hr draw. (I’ve had two miscarriages) 
Just depends on the dr. But in most cases. It is not normal to get the labs done.
