My boyfriend and I are taking a break and when we decided on it, I was absolutely heart broken and cried about it all night. My parents know about it but not the whole reason behind why we took a break. My parents and my bf used to have a great relationship and they loved him, always welcomed at home but now, after the break they hate him.

Am I not being fair by asking them to be civil with him? I've told them that right now we're just friends but that doesn't mean we won't get back together in the future.
