Young Boys Robbed

No

Sorry, this isn’t very controversial and there isn’t much to debate, but I feel most comfortable and familiar with the people who frequent this group and I just wanted to share this most recent incident.

My wife and I were taking our dog for a walk when at the end of our block I heard a small voice call out. I turned and saw two young boys, shoeless, waving at us down and asking if we could help. I’m not going to lie, I was suspicious at first, I tend to be a very cautious person and I was wary. As I drew closer I noticed both boys were visibly upset, I asked what was wrong and they told me they had been robbed.

Instantly I was infuriated and asked where this had happened and who did it to them, they told me it happened on the trail and it was a pair of masked boys whom they assumed to be in high school. They then proceeded to tell me they had been walking through the neighborhoods near the trail seeking help and no one they encountered had stopped to speak to them. I sent my wife home with our dog, she was incessantly barking at the traumatized duo and wasn’t being much help, and I proceeded to call the police and wait with the boys for the authorities to show up.

I tried to chit chat and comfort them while we waited but I am probably one of the least soothing people I know so I doubt I was much help...once the officer arrived he took my information and sent me away, I hugged the boys and told them it would be okay. I walked home and now I’m telling this story to you.

My wife and I know the school they go to, we plan to buy a gift card to footlocker for each of them and give it to the school in hopes it will soothe these two...I don’t know what else to do honestly. Thank you for reading, what would you all have done in this situation?
