"What are you going to do about your cats?"

I KEEP getting asked this question. I know I will need to be careful having a baby and two cats. But I don't know what people expect my response to be. Do they think I should be getting rid of them?! Because that is not an option. Anyone else keep getting asked this? Also is there anything out there to stop cats trying to sleep on top of babies? My cats are both lovely friendly cats but I know they might like to sleep somewhere warm! Surely all I can do is make sure the baby isn't left alone with the cats and they are shut out of the room? Any suggestions or people in a similar situation? Surely lots of people have babies AND pets?!! X

We put foil all over the nursery to keep them out and so they get used to not being in it. We also will be playing crying baby noises to get them used to it. We have three rescues. I would NEVER get rid of them!!

I have 5 cats and I would never get rid of my cats for any reason at all. I work for a rescue and I can’t tell you how many people return cats cause or “allergies” or a new baby. Grow up people they make shots for allergies and cats aren’t dangerous.

I get this question a lot to because we have 4. honestly I'm not too worried about them. I've been letting them explore the nursery and I'm going to have someone bring home a blanket that smells like the baby for them to get used to her scent. I understand that the baby is new and different for them so they may hiss at her and want to sniff her. they may even swat at her at first which I'm going to try not to freak out about. the only way I would give one up is if they are so mean to her and continue to be mean. it's a big adjustment for all of us so I'm going to give them time. just remember, they need time to adjust too.

We have 8 dogs and get asked this all the time.   Guess what, people have pets and then have babies; what is there to understand???  Our dogs have been around babies and kids, we have the entire basement set up for the dogs; so while they will come upstairs, in the beginning they will just stay in the basement.  We have a huge backyard and they spend lots of time out there.  So life will go on with a baby and our dogs; just like with plenty of people all over the world.

I’m not getting rid of mine unless my baby has a cat allergy or something like that. I get so annoyed when people imply that I should get rid of my cat, how rude 🙄.

We bought this to keep our two cats out of the nursery when we aren't in there. So far it's working well, so hopefully that continues when baby is home. They know when it's sitting by the door they can't enter; and when we are there and okay with them, we pick it up and they know they can come in. I'm hoping this way if baby is sleeping in there I will not have to shut the door. 
We have been training them with it for like a month and so far I'm like why did I not already own this to keep them out of stuff! :) my cats are my babies too so I'm trying to get them ready before baby gets here.

My cat was so protective when I brought baby home but never tried to climb on him or in his bed once he was here. I honestly think they know better than to sit on a baby. You may just have to wait until baby comes home to see how yours react. But they make nets for cribs!

I had SO MANY people ask me that question when I had my first child...are you gunna get rid of your two cats? Aren't you afraid they'll smother your baby? And I refused to declaw..so they also would ask..aren't you afraid they will attack or scratch your baby and give him cat scratch fever...But I had cats growing up that never bothered me. And I was not willing to get rid of my cats..and I'm pregnant the second time 32 wks now with my second baby. Still not willing to get rid of my cats lol My cats have never scratched..hurt..or anything with my first child..if anything him and my cats love to play together..they have never hurt him. I don't regret my decision keeping my cats. It's your decision you know your cats better than anyone ya know. I do have to say tho when you get home it is dif. Bc your cats are your babies then you get home with your child and you feel totally different. Like you would do anything to protect your child. That's the only thing I can say changed for me. Oh yeah. Never once has one of my cats tried to sleep on my child or jump in his crib or bed. Not even once.

I get asked this ALL the time ! And it pisses me off to no end ! They're my babies too and they will not be pushed aside, they're family and i trust they will be just fine ...
Our plan is just to keep the baby's door closed when she's in their sleeping so they don't try to lay with her but other than that i don't want them thinking the baby is something bad or something to fear ...as of now they think the crib is the best napping spot lol
