Baby Shower Blues

So I don't have anyone but family to throw me a baby shower. My mom decided that since I'm getting married in January, I don't need to have a baby shower for my son due in February because it would be expecting people to buy too much. I honestly don't give a crap about gifts I just want to celebrate my first and possibly only child. I'm so disappointed and sad I won't get to have one but it seems tacky to throw one for myself. Has anyone else ever thrown their own baby shower?
