Brown spotting before period. Why?!

I stopped taking birth control in November 2016. I wanted my body to have time to get back to "normal" before my husband and I started trying to conceive. The past 3-4 cycles, I have 6-7 days of brown spotting/blood before my actual period starts. What does this mean? Should I be concerned? We are planning to start trying to conceive asap.

I had this before AF after stopping birth control too. My initial withdrawal bleed was 2 weeks after stopping BC and was very light and lasted about 2-3 days. It took a further 90 days before AF to show but I week prior to that I was getting brown stringy discharge. Lots of it. It lasted from 7-10!days before AF came. I don't think it's normal in general but after stopping BC in my case, it was!

It's normal to spot 1-2 days before AF, that's just your body clearing out old blood in preparation for AF, but 6 days is a little much. If your TTC, I'd make an appointment with an OBGYN and get there opinion because it's likely your progesterone is a little low. Mine was, and I was spotting several days before each period and I got put on a progesterone supplement and the spotting stopped just like that!
