Crazy Puppy

Meemee

This is my sweet (not so sweet) Australian shepherd, Stella. I first got her when she was around 3.5 months old and now she is 7 months old. My boyfriend and I live together and just found out we were pregnant ( YAY). I'm now 7 weeks along. We live right outside of downtown Milwaukee, we don't have a yard or anything convenient. But since we found out about baby we have been looking into buying a home (WITH A FENCED IN YARD).

Stella is an endless ball of crazy energy. Since I found out I was pregnant, I tried to step up and train/exercise her more to take some stress of my boyfriend who is in pharmacy school full time and started working more hours to save money for baby due in May.

I try to walk this beast or take her to the dog park for 1.5-2 hours a day. Now, I'm in my first trimester, and work 8-4 everyday almost working overtime every day in a pharmacy. We do not take breaks or get lunches so I'm on my feet working for 8+ hours Monday- Friday. SO obviously there are days where I'm so exhausted (fatigue seems to be the only symptom I have so far).

Anyway, she's still in her puppy phase and still nips, pees in the house, barks, whines when in her crate , etc. Recently, she started almost attacking my boyfriend and i every time we try to put her in the cage/her "room" (mudroom). We need to put her in the cage every time cook, eat, do laundry, go to the bathroom, etc. because she will either attack us or jump on counters, play tug-of-war with the laundry, or eat all of our food. While we have her in her room/crate she barks non stops or digs at the door.

When we have her out in the house running around free, she likes to bite at our feet or lunge and bite our clothes. She bites strangers/their clothes when they come into the house. When she does this we've tried the technique of turning around and ignoring her (when we do this she bites our butts and it REALLY HURTS) we try to redirect her and Give her a toy to keep in her mouth which only works once every thousand times (usually she just drops the toy and goes right back for our arm or clothes or whatever she can grab).

We have tried a lot of training and different options with her. We did puppy classes immediately after adopting her, personal in home training sessions, doggy daycare (which she got kicked out of), minimum of 1 hour walk a day (which I know probably isn't sufficient but it's the best I can do at the moment), on weekends I try to take her on a hike or to the dog park twice in a day, I train her at home she knows several tricks (sit, down, roll over, shake, high five, play dead).

Despite all of this she still bites us and I guess that is the main reason my boyfriend wants to get rid of her. I do feel the same way sometimes, but I like to stay positive and try to convince us that it's just her puppy years and to do the best we can to train her because she'll grow out of this craziness and testing us but I'm not sure.

My boyfriend today has basically decided that we need to get rid of her. I love her so much regardless of all the bad things that happen every day. I don't know what to do. I can't stop crying over the thought of finding a new home for her and I can't even look at her because it just makes me cry. I want to wait it out and maybe wait till we get a new house with a yard, but I don't know when that will be. What as your thoughts, opinions, suggestions? Anyone ever had such an aggressive crazy dog or an Aussie before??? HELP.b
