Early Delivery
At the beginning of my pregnancy, I had to go to the emergency room because I was bleeding, they told me I may have placenta previa but it was too early to tell.... After a couple doctor appointment she told me I didnt. Everytime I saw blood I went to the emergency room and they’ll always send me home. I used to have pains as well but I never really focused on that because in my mind “Pregnant ppl hurt sometime” but on August 30, I was at work and just kept feelings pain in my stomach to the point tears would come out my eyes, but I was there by myself so there really wasn’t much I could do. I went to pick my big girl up from my aunt and asked her how contractions feel because I was STILL hurting, but I have a high tolerance for pain, so I was taking them. The next morning, I woke up, used the restroom and went back to bed, then a sharp pain hit me and I went back to the restroom and saw blood this time and the contractions came back so strong I literally could not move. I knew I needed to go the hospital, and they actually kept me this time for a couple days, monitored my contractions, checked to see if I was dilating and then prescribed me something to help them not come as often. About two weeks went by and I was at my doctor appointment and she told me to slow down on the pills and only take them when I was hurting. She told me she wasn’t really worried about me delivering early because I wasn’t dilating, but I hadn’t been checked since I was last at the emergency room. Then on Sept 27 I went back to the emergency room because I was bleeding AGAIN, and having contractions. They weren’t too worried about the blood because “it’s normal to bleed while you’re pregnant” (let them tell it) but I had also dilated a little by then, so they kept and sent me home the next day. One day pass by and Saturday, Sept 30 I wake up in the middle of the night and use the restroom then come get in bed, then I start to feel something come out of me, I go to the restroom again and its blood, more blood than usual. I knew something was wrong, I go back to the emergency room! At this point of time the staff pretty much know me, the doctor on duty is always the one on duty when I go, anyways, he asked me what was wrong and I told him, They hooked me to an I.V and start monitoring the baby her heart beat dropped to below 50 for a couple seconds, the doctor quickly realize that I might be having my baby early, so he put me in a laboring and delivering room and explain to me that I might have my baby that day and it might be a whole lot of people around me if I have to have a c-section. That was around 3 in the morning. Around 10 the baby heartbeat hasn’t dropped anymore and everything looking good, we were thinking that maybe this baby stay in but they wanted to check and see if my placenta ruptured from my uterus (which would’ve been the reason for my bleeding) so they ordered me an ultrasound. As the lady is giving me the ultrasound my baby’s heartbeat is fine, whew what a relief, she tells me my placenta look like it’s still intact, another relief, so I call and give everybody the good news but as my nurse is hooking the machine back up to monitor my contractions and the heartbeat she tells me to prepare to have an emergency c-section because the baby heartbeat dropped again and was not picking back up. In less than a minutes of me getting off the phone with my baby’s dad because I was thinking everything was okay I told him to not call off of work, she told me that I was about to have this baby. All I could do at that moment was cry. My mood went from hopeful to terrified in a few seconds. The only person I was able to call before they did my surgery was my auntie because she’s a nurse so that’s the only person I felt comfortable calling. I did text my baby’s dad and let him know what was going on but thats all I remember. Apparently I had her at 10:55a.m but I didn’t wake up from surgery until 12:08pm. I didn’t see my baby until I got wheeled to my recovery room and I had to stop by NICU to see her. That was so devastating. She was 3lbs 2oz. Now she’s 3lbs 7oz and off of the oxygen and out of the I.V’s. They’re just trying to get her to take a bottle. She drunk 20mL out of 30 today, which is more than she’s ever taken. Hopefully she’ll be taking the whole bottle soon. She’s also in an incubator to regulate her temperature. I’m happy with her progress and can only hope she get better.
