How can I get my toddler to sleep in his crib?

He is 17 months. At 9 months he came to our bed during winter and we couldn't afford to get the heater fix so we had too. I've tried the cry it out method and we finally succeeded but then he stared daycare and well it back to shitty. Welll I can't keep rocking my 28 pound toddler for naps, he's to big for me. And at night that's a little easier I just lay in bed with him until he falls asleep but I end up falling asleep then cant do house work or homework.

What are some ways you were able to sleep train/ get them to sleep in their crib ?
