Light Spotting brown

So when my AF came to visit this month instead of a bright red mess like I normally have it was a brown discharge and it was spotting on and of for a few days, never enough to use a tampon, or even a pad. I have herd of women experiencing that and getting a BFP, anyone else experience that or is that not a thing. I don't know if it could be a pregnancy symptom or not. Or even implanting, I've heard of bright pink. Not sure what to think, and my research hasn't helped any. I do have a Dr. Appointment but just wanted to know if anyone has had this experience before they got there BFP.
