Baby Shower “Dress Code?” *NOT MY SHOWER*

Question

I’m from SC and I’ve always been taught that showers (both baby and bridal) are something to dress up for, even as guests. However at the last baby shower I went to, everyone was wearing jeans. What is the current default dress code?! 
I’ve been invited to a shower for someone I go to church with, and I don’t want to under or over dress. 
Also: I’m pregnant and it’s totally visible. Should I wear something looser or flowy-er out of courtesy, or not worry about digging something out?

I have always been told dressy for all showers. I would much rather be over dressed then under too! So nice casual dress is always safe .

I’m from upstate SC and at my first baby shower people wore different things. Some wore jeans and a nice shirt (not lounge clothes but relaxed) and some wore dresses. I say wear whatever you are comfortable in! 
On a side note - don’t try to hide your belly out of courtesy of m2b. Everyone who is coming knows who it’s for and it’s not your fault your noticeable. I personally would wear a cute dress and if it flatters your belly then so be it! Good luck honey!

It really depends on the mom-to-be... some ladies prefer something fancy. Some ladies don’t really care. Personally, I don’t care. My shower is co-ed and kid friendly... I wouldn’t judge anyone for dressing up but at the same time I want everyone to be comfortable! What about nice jeans and a dressy blouse? Dresses go with any occasion and you typically don’t look over dressed or under dressed (as long as it’s not a super formal dress). I love dresses. If she had a problem with your bump then I don’t see why she would have invited you, everyone knows who the shower is for, otherwise they probably shouldn’t be there.

I have never been to a baby or bridal shower that was dressy and I've been to tons. I'm not going to wear a dress to mine either. I'll wear jeans and a nice sweater I think. It's at my sisters house and it's an afternoon tea.

Mine was casual. More for my own comfort rather than anything. You can also wear leggings or dark jeans and dress them up with a nice top and some jewelry. After all, you’re pregnant and want to be comfortable. I’d say that if it’s for someone at church and you don’t know their style, I’d do a dressy casual type of outfit that way you’re not over or under dressed.

My shower is hopefully super casual. I may dress up to showcase this belly but I don’t expect anyone else too. I know everyone is different. Probably the best scenario is to ask about attire or make your best judgement by the place the shower is and who it’s for.

All the baby showers I've been too have always been pretty casual, maybe it's just the area I'm from in the south lol.

It's still fairly warm I would wear a cute casual sundress or maxi dress. The southern girl in me says my nana would erupt from her grave to scold me if I wore jeans to anything other than Walmart. If the shower is at a catered hall certainly it is more dressy then one in a friend or families members home depending on the host. I'd rather be over dressed than under dressed.  A sun dress you can dress up or down by just changing your shoes and jewelry.

It matters where you are too. I feel like up north we are more casual. I live in Louisiana now and was definitely underdressed at my last baby shower. I'd say wear a dress and flats but nothing too dressy then you can hit right in the middle!

It really depends on that person... how do you usually see them dressed? I know with my husband side of the family they are so casual it hurts but with my family you should definitely be dressy. If you aren’t super sure I’d do a dress but a more casual dress if that makes sense? I also wouldn’t worry that you’re showing you’re pregnant.
