Low Progesterone Cause My Miscarriage?

I noticed a week before my miscarriage I had just started barely spotting..but i woke up that morning and my boobs didnt hurt anymore and i had a lot fewer pregnancy symptoms. I went to the doc and had an ultrasound and baby still had a good heartbeat but i just felt something was wrong hormone wise. I asked the doc about progesterone but she wouldnt even test me for it. I feel like i miscarried because of low progesterone but i dont have any proof. What do you guys think? Is it possible i had low progesterone and its something that could have been helped?

I had two miscarriages 6 weeks apart this spring. The first happened out of the blue and the second happened (I think) as a result of an ovarian cyst that burst. My doctor told me to wait to try to get pregnant for three months and then to call the second I got a positive pregnancy test. She did blood work two weeks in a row to check my hcg and progesterone levels. Both looked really, really good, so we ended up not having to put me on progesterone. I'm not saying progesterone wasn't your problem, but I'm also not saying it's always the culprit. I would recommend looking for a different obgyn if you can who is more sensitive toward miscarriages and will listen when you have a legitimate concern.

This year I've had 2 MCs and I am pregnant for the 3rd time now. My progesterone was low and they immediately put me on it 3x a day transvaginal. I don't have a huge amount of symptoms other than my boobs are kinda sore (not all the time), I have a lot of discharge (TMI) and I am bloated and gassy like crazy (mostly at the end of the day) and I'm super tired. However, I don't feel so tired today. I had a 7 week US last week and HB was good at 150. I am still super nervous about another MC but I'm trying to stay positive. Long story short, throughout this whole process, I didn't like what my first OBGYN did or for lack of better words... didn't do 😡. So I changed Drs and found one who would listen to my concerns. I'm not a expert on this matter by any means but I hope you can find some sort of peace or answers in my experience. If your like me I google everything and I'm always looking for answers. Probably not the best idea, but I think you should do whatever gives you comfort. Going through multiple MCs is the worst and it is so hard on your emotional well being. I had my progesterone and hcg levels checked as soon as I told my dr I was pregnant. He progesterone was a little low and they had me repeat the BW twice before putting me on a progesterone suppository twice a day. This is my first pregnancy and my dr was pretty clear that without the supplement of my levels continued to drop, I could miscarry.

It's hard to say. Was your progesterone tested when you first got pregnant? I'm high risk, so my doctor checked mine right after I got the positive pregnancy test. She told me that usually if you have low progesterone, it starts low. Yours could have dropped due to there being a chromosomal abnormality, and your body naturally taking the steps to miscarry. This is why some doctors are hesitant to give progesterone when they aren't sure if you have a progesterone problem. I would make sure you get blood drawn right after your next positive test, to test your progesterone.

I had low progesterone and bleeding with my first and they put me on a progesterone pill to bring it up and to "prevent miscarriage" which is how my dr put it! I'm no dr and I don't know your case but in my case they put me on progesterone to prevent it!

I have low progesterone and when I get pregnant I have to get a prescription to supplement. I'm not a Dr but I do believe if you're low on progesterone it can lead to miscarriage. My first pregnancy I didn't know I needed progesterone and had a miscarriage. The Dr didn't say that's why but I believe it was because I had NO symptoms. Had you had ANY blood work before your visit or even before you got pregnant? If so that could have told your progesterone levels and your Dr already knew you didn't need it!? My dr did blood work the moment I found out I was pregnant to check my levels.
