When was your first ultrasound?

My doctor told me my first ultrasound will be at 20 weeks. I feel like this is EXTREMELY late!

There are a lot of offices that  will only do one scan at 20 Weeks unless you are high risk or don’t know your last missed period.

My friend and I went to two different docs in the same network of docs and she only had one ultrasound at 20 weeks and mine did one at 12, 20, and 36. They listened to heartbeat every time for both of us.

I am in Canada so our's is different as our health care is covered.
There can be a dating scan around 8 weeks then there is a scan between 12-13 weeks for abnormalities and then again at 20 weeks for the anatomy check. Some doctors will do a growth scan after 34-36 weeks as well.

I had one at 5, 12, 20 and I get a 3D one at 32 weeks because my insurance offers and covers it. Every doctors office is different. I couldn't imagine waiting until 20 weeks!

I think it depends on your hospital/doctor bc I have had an ultrasound at every appointment since 5 wks and a girl I know who went to a different hospital in a different county had only 2 her whole pregnancy

Having a private scan on the side won't be bad, if you could afford one

Ugh. I'd be getting a private one done! I know all offices are diff but that would kill me! I was sooo anxious to see my baby at the 20 week scan and we saw her at 9 weeks.

I had at dating scan done at 5/6 weeks. Then I had to wait for the 20 week scan.
