Anyone have that negative Nancy “friend”?

I have this “friend” I’ve known for about 16 years or so. We’re 32 now and this girl is jealous of everything!! I miscarried a while back and her comment was “wow, you told all these people you’re pregnant and now you have to tell them you’re not” 🙄 anywho, she’s been trying to conceive for about 3-4 years and I am currently 11 weeks. I told her about it and she always has to be negative “wow, I’m 0 weeks 😰” or something like that. I’m not rubbing it in, but as a friend or whatever I like to share. Advice?

Yes I have a friend like that! I don’t talk to her anymore. Last year she was going through a really tough time and I told her about my miscarriage and got a similar reaction, and whenever I tell her about anything good in my life she rolls her eyes or completely ignores me. I have given up. It’s just not worth having negative people in your life.

Yep.  When I started dating my boyfriend it was,  "you always get all the guys,  why don't any guys like me". Then she'd get grumpy because on my few days off I'd see my boyfriend.  I got a second job, "why can't I ever find a job" but would complain about working more than 3hr shifts and just has general shitty work ethic.  Then we both applied for the same job and I got hired (she showed up to the interview in daggy yard clothes,  terribly presented).  She lost her shit at me,  about how I'm trying to steal everything from her.  Meanwhile I was working 3 jobs to save money for my wedding and support my 2 kids.  She wanted the job so she could save and travel to Europe (has no kids). Didn't talk for ages until she "apologised" because she wanted to come to the wedding.  When she found  out I was pregnant "omg everyone is getting married and pregnant and im still single". I gave up after that.  some friends aren't worth keeping.

I have a friend like that. Love her dearly then one day I woke up. Every time she would call it felt like she sucked the life out of me. If I was happy  about something she'd ruin it. I realized that I get enough negativity from people I don't know so why was I willingly inviting this negative energy into my life. It's been about 5 years since we stopped being super close.  I call occasionally and I'm quickly reminded of why we don't talk like we used to. I still share good news with her but it's usually a few weeks late.

these are friends u quickly have to let go of. No one has the time or the patience for a hater ( that’s exactly what she is) she will never congratulate u on any of ur wins & goals even if u do for her so why keep her around if u don’t get the same

I had a friend who was a “negative Nancy” they complained about everything. They would say how bored they are all the time, how they don’t have money(yet he kept quitting his jobs constantly for the stupidest reasons) he went to community college and quit that after a month. He just was soooo unhappy. Posted on Facebook how he’s so ugly. Ugh. I finally last year decided enough was enough after giving him over 25k and never seemed to get his life together though we were friends because he’s a “family friend” he got his car repossessed, took out credit cards and maxed them out.. I gave him money to get him in the door and try a community college out, pay for his  apartment to be fixed (I guess his land lord didn’t pay to have a window fixed or something) idk I just wanted to help in any way I could, I taught him how to be responsible with money and that went NO WHERE. 
Then he met the love of his life and married him less than 2 weeks after meeting him. Found out his hubby is a drug addict. Then he started acting different and I cut him out of my life after he had the audacity to ask if he can stay on my couch and he will pay me 100 a month.. lol no I have a family and I don’t support druggies. He also asked if he could be on my car insurance and basically I felt like I was his mother. 
I genuinely wanted the best for him, I still do but it’s been a year and his hubby is in jail.. I don’t associate myself with those type of people. Sad part is my friend warned to be a nurse and of course I wanted to help him soooo bad but you can’t help people who don’t want to be helped.

I’ve had friends like that, there’s just people who are sooo negative about everything, and it’s literally so draining for me to be around them, so i’ve learned to just avoid people like that and it’s honestly been way better for me since then. Maybe your friend doesn’t notice what she’s doing though, maybe tell her you feel like she’s constantly negative about everything? Overall though, you can’t change how someone views life so you’re either gonna have to learn to live with it or find a new friend.

not the same situation, but I had a "friend" who always put me down to make herself feel better about her life. she has a great life, and I made some choices that weren't in the realms of traditional, but I expected support from her, especially after 20+ years. 
She's jealous of me because I have done more in my life than she has, however, I had a lot of adversity to overcome and I did. 
I finished HS, got a college education, have a good career. 
however, I did make some choices, like being with an addict. I ended up pregnant with twins, and chose to keep them (best decision ever). I remember going to her house (6yrs ago), and her guy friend was talking about this single friend of his, etc. she looked at me and was like "don't get any ideas, no one is going to 
want someone with so much baggage." I was one month post partum, and wow that hurt me so bad. even her friend was like "wtf" and  mouthed to me "not true." Anyways, I've barely spoken to her since. I've currently given birth to my fourth baby. someone did want me and" my "baggage." 
she's kind of a bitch. oh and she hasn't once said congrats, despite all the pics of my new daughter on FB. A part of me is sad, but a part of me hates her.

I am partially that friend 😶 but I think she should be happy for you and not make you feel bad about being pregnant. You shouldn’t have to feel bad about being pregnant just because she isn’t. I’d tell her that I’m sorry she is hurting and hasn’t conceived yet, but her being negative like that isn’t allowing you to feel supported and friends should help one another.
