Is chocolate candy?

My husband says chocolate isn’t candy and it’s a thing of its own. “Chocolate is chocolate and candy is candy” were his words so he means like Swedish fish or skittles are candy but a snickers bar isn’t candy it’s chocolate. So do you guys consider chocolate to be candy?

lol I've always thought of candy as gummy bears, Skittles, liquorice, etc.
I call snickers, Reese, Hersey's, etc. chocolates

Well a chocolate bar is called a candy bar and so are candies made with chocolate. It’s candy but it can also be a flavor. But a chocolate bar is candy.

I don't really use the word candy. We have sweets and then chocolate. So chocolate bars are one thing then sweets are usually gummy like haribo.
