Suggestions on how to ease/prevent leg cramps. I literally woke up from a dead sleep with a calf cramp so bad I was nearly in tears and woke up my hubby..... it was awful. I never got them in my previous pregnancies😩

This has happened to me a lot and my aunt (who is a nurse) told me to put an ice pack directly on the muscle that's cramping. No towel or anything between the ice and the skin. It somehow relaxes the muscle. It's shocking at first (especially in the middle of the night) but it works!

Try taking magnesium! I started having them really bad and that made them go away. If I don’t take it for like 2 days, they start back.

I had this same thing happen to me a couple weeks ago. I woke up to go pee in the middle of the night and I stretched my calves and they both start cramping in on themselves, Muscles tightening, and I couldn’t stop it. I tried to calm down to stop the cramping but it got so bad I started crying. I woke up my husband and he got on top of my legs and started massaging my calves and told me to breath. It took a good couple minutes until it stopped. I was so sore the next day. Ever since then I stretch my calves before I go to bed at night and when I wake up at night I always stretch my toes up towards me instead of pointed down. I haven’t had anything that bad since. However just tonight both my thighs cramped when hubby and I were having sex. He had to massage them out for me before I could move on lol 😂 I think the main thing is to stretch as often as you can and make sure to drink lots of water to keep your body hydrated. Unfortunately cramps are a normal part of pregnancy (so I’ve read since this is my first) so it might just be another “fun” symptom we get to deal with! Good luck mama!!!

i got them EVERY morning with my 1st till I added a banana a day and extra water. alsp when it happens flex ankle till toes pount toward yoyr face as much as possible. Have hubby push top part of foot if awake. sounds weird and the idea of any flexing makes you think more pain but if I do this right as I feel one coming on it stops. Good luck!

Yes this happened to me too!! I actually barely remember it and thought it was a dream in the morning but I woke up my husband in tears and he massaged it til it went away and I literally dropped right back to sleep lol! I’ve been stretching my calves every night before bed since then but I’ve definitely noticed the muscles feel more tight than usual. 😬

I've been getting those recently also! I just try and flex my foot so it stretches my calf out and that helps a little. Just make sure you drink a ton of water! Good luck!
