Success story after 2.5 years TTC - how it happened

Over 2.5 years ago I started my TTC journey. I was so naive and it took me to places I never thought I would ever have to go to. Just wanted to share a timeline of where we started and how we ended up with a success story, for anyone struggling like I once was.

January 2015

Weight - 280lbs

Stopped using condoms but we weren't really "trying" (had never been on birth control, had only used condoms)

March 2015

Weight- 285lbs

Got married and started "trying" during an apps suggested fertile week

November 2015

Worried that we may struggle with infertility, went to OB looking for help

Told me "Once you start your period in December, come in for blood tests to try and track ovulation"

December 2015

No period, negative pregnancy test

Christmas Day 2015

Started bleeding

Thought "could my period be 2 weeks late?"

Decided to take test and was pregnant.

Couldn't be more ecstatic, naively didn't think anything of bleeding but went to hospital to see why

Miscarriage wasn't even a thing in my mind. My world, my heart, my life was flipped upside down when I was told I was mis carrying.

Bled the whole month of January and went into deep depression that I didnt come out of until around May 2016

August 2016

Weight- 290

My "period" was only brown spotting but had negative pregnancy test

Tested about a week later and got positive

Tested again a couple days later to make sure test was getting darker and hcg was growing.

Test was negative --- chemical pregnancy.

I was devastated.

November 2016

Decided to see Infertility specialist

Was diagnosed with PCOS - turns out my body was making ridiculous amounts of insulin which was supposedly causing my miscarriages

Doctor put me on Metformin to control insulin

April 2017

Wasn't getting pregnant off metformin alone

Doctor had me take letrozole to help ovulation

We continued to try naturally (no iui, no ivf)

May 2017

Same routine - metformin everyday, letrozole taken on cycle days 3-7

June 2017

Weight- 280

Had period June 15 2017

Took letrozole cycle days 3-7

Had sex cycle days 12-16 (in the morning everyday, which we had never done before but decided to switch it up) (usually did every other day at night)

Had positive ovulation tests on cycle days 13 AND 14

Tested cycle day 23 - 9 days after positive ovulation and 9 days before expected period and got a faint faint positive

Doctor confirmed I was in fact pregnant

At 5 weeks had ultrasound and found out it was twins

At 9 weeks had ultrasound and found out we had vanishing twin syndrome. (One twin survived and one did not) Thankfully we had at least one healthy baby.

At 12 weeks stopped taking metformin and started eating low carb

I'm now 16w4days with healthy baby

I weigh 260 lbs (lost weight because of morning sickness and low carb diet, doctor says it's healthy I'm losing weight during pregnancy because I'm so overweight and healthy in every other way)

It's been a long journey and I'm still hoping this story works out. Sometimes it takes a long time and a lot of hurt and anger and tears but you WILL get there.

Thoughts and prayers to you all
