In your opinion to let go of someone you thought was the love of your life?

You know, I just had to do this earlier this year and it was incredibly painful. I still miss him to this day. But we had an incredibly toxic relationship and just weren’t right for each other so I had to move on. I should have a long time ago but that connection we had kept me from doing it for the longest time. I know I will never love anybody like I loved him. But sometimes you just have to realize it’s not meant to be and move on for your own sake.
We had a very toxic relationship, it was literally like the song Love The Way You Lie, when it was good it was intoxicating and when it was bad it was hell. But slowly over time it got worse and worse, he hurt me a lot and I tried to forget it because I love him but it got to the point where I had no choice anymore. I was giving way more than I got back in return.
Imo, if you are considering if you should move on or not, it probably means you should move on.

To me one of the biggest signs (if not the biggest) is internal. If you're feeling uncertainty, doubt, if you're questioning or thinking "is this right?" Then chances are, this relationship isn't meant for you, no matter how much you wish it was. Often it's your gut that is making you question, and your gut is always right. I know that for me, once I met my person, I did not have any of those feelings. Even in the beginning when things might have looked a little uncertain from the outside. I always, ALWAYS felt at peace, I always had this deep trust that it was going to work out. I had never had that with anyone else before. The certainty I felt with him compared to the uncertainty I felt with others was like night and day. I just knew in my gut that I was supposed to hang on to him, no questions asked.
