Castor oil and sweep??

Question

So I am currently 38 weeks measuring a week earlier, I have my sweep tomorrow lunch time and Hubby and I were wondering if taking castor oil in the morning is a bad idea. No negative comments please. We have done our research and are aware of it alllllll.

I had a sweep when I was 2cm and 60% effaced. Six days later and still no baby. I'm now 41 weeks. Just be prepared that the sweep may not be your magic answer. Our bodies are incredible and won't push out the baby until time is right.

I tried castor oil with my first pregnancy.. I was 41 weeks and about to be induced the following Monday. I had terrible stomach pains, diarrhea, and even vomited. It kicked up contractions a few times but they always stopped. It really made my last few days of being baby free miserable. I only took 2 lbs!! So in my opinion, no I would never do it again. It’s totally up to you and if you do decide to go ahead with it I hope you have a way better experience than I did! Good luck!!

I would see if the sweep does anything first. Everyone's body reacts differently so you'll never know for sure until you try it yourself. But I've read a lot of good results about the sweep. It looks like it works for most.

I had my daughter 10/12 at 38 w 5 days.  I had been in labor for at least 3 days before. contraction all day but not steady enough.  So I took the gamble and took only 1oz. at 5pm with in 3 hours crazy contractions and 11pm when got to the hospital they kept me!  They say it only works when your in labor.. but you never know. I was scared. My daughter did not poop while inside. Thank god. And good luck! :)

I wouldn’t. If your body isn’t ready, it won’t even work.
