One yr old not talking

Holly

My son had a doctors appt today ( thought he had a ear infection) but turns out he's teething extremely bad, anyway my 14 month old isn't talking. Which is fine but he was talking at 10 months old like momma dada, no and yea. He completely stopped which is my concern. We recently moved from NC to SC. His pediatrician said it could be stress from the move, went husband and I work with him on words and reading to him at night. His doctor said if he doesn't start talking in a few months then it's time to go to the next level.. which he didn't go into details but when he points i tell him what it is a couple of times and then let him touch it. Does anybody have anything else they recommend to do?

I honestly think the pediatrician is jumping the gun. He's only 14 months old & a boy. My best friend is dealing with this same thing but her child is 2 years old (3 in June) & not talking. He is beginning speech therapy. I wouldn't stress about it until later down the road. Sounds like your doing all the right things. My son is 14 months old & only says "mama & da da" babbles & makes sounds.

I think it’s normal for boys to talk later. My LO was walking at 10months and now running at 14 months but just babbles a ton and says all the vowels like “mamama, dadada, gagaga” etc and will do a few animal sounds but other than that nada. He’s advanced physically. Usually kids are one or the other.

Yeah. My son is 14 months old and still only babbles. He’s very active though, climbing up and down stairs at 7 months, walking at 9 months. He’s a babbler though, but no actual words besides mama and daddy. But we’re a bilingual household, so I’m not worried. (Yet! ) Oh! And he say e-i-e-i-o. It’s the cutest thing!!

That actually makes really good sense. I never thought about that, my son is running around. He’s extremely active

lol my one year old doesn't talk, he babbles sometimes, but we understand his hand signs so we don't worry about him using words ... he's almost 15 Month

Hey, I am kinda going through the same thing. My son used to say mama dada when he was much younger but lately nothing..he barely babbles. He's a very active child though..walked by 12 months and now he tries to run! My husband believes that he is just preoccupied with running right now and focusing just on that but idk. He also doesn't imitate any sound that I make. I am really worried about it. I made an appt with a specialist for his 15 month check up next month. Did your doctor suggest anything to try to get him to start talking?

He told me to continue repeating words to him and whatever he points at to repeat it a couple of times

Out of curiosity, for those of you with little ones that did "talk" but now don't or not as much, was your child vaccinated with the MMR vaccine?
