Doctor calling my baby fat!?!
I took my son to his one year check up (turned one on the 11th) and am quite annoyed with his doctor. The first thing this older man said upon entering the room was “wow, you don’t have any trouble feeding him.” I laughed. Then he looks at him and said “portion control is important for all ages.” WHAT? He’s 30 inches tall and 24 lbs. Apparently he’s in the 84th percentile for weight, meaning 84% of babies are thinner. I have a hard time believing that, especially breast fed babies. He’s not fat! He has weight on him sure, but I’m not over feeding him!!! I think he looks extremely healthy. The doctor was very impressed with his mental growth and he looks great. Blood work came out great, eye site came out great, he’s met all mental milestones. He’s a great talker and has great hand eye coordination. I just don’t get doctors sometimes and I’m still steamed. I don’t think I need to use more “portion control.” Am I naive or this doctor nuts?????
