saving!?

Is having 10,000 a good enough savings for when baby comes? We will have total and I'm hoping that is good in case of house repairs.

sounds good to me. it would cover any immediate household needs/repairs, and a few months bills/living expenses should anything happen. good planning ahead momma! i know its not easy. oh! freezer meal planning is a great way to help pinch pennies too. :)

Holy sh*t! I can't even imagine having money like that. About a month before my daughter was born my husband lost his job and with it we were just barely making it paycheck to paycheck. He still hadn't found anything by the time she was born so we literally had I think 20 dollars to our name the day she was born.even now almost a year later we still aren't able to really save anything. People have always told me the area we live in is awful for jobs and that's why people usually move so they can make more than just enough to scrape by. I never really believed that it was that much better other places, but dang I guess it is. Wow! I'd definitely say your set.

I think it depends on where you live and your cost of living. Generally, you want to have enough in savings that you could live off it for several months.  If you have any equity in your house you may want to consider also applying for a home equity line of credit (second mortgage). They are usually free to take out and provide an extra cushion in case of an emergency. You only take out money as needed and there is no obligation to even use it.  We took one out whole pregnant and it made us feel better about stretching our budget with daycare while living in an 85 year-old home.
